About
My interest in photography began with my grandmother’s Sunday after-dinner travel slide shows, and her gift of a Kodak Starflash camera for my eighth birthday.
Although my career path was medicine, I was inspired by adults in my family to never turn away from the photographic arts, and my life has been enriched. My son, Nathan, was therefore exposed to photography growing up, and used my darkroom. He learned photography as a journalism graduate student at Boston University, and is an award winning wedding photographer. I hope my collection of photographs will inspire others to realize their unrecognized potential to influence future generations by example and support, as my grandmother did for me.
My work has been accepted into numerous art shows and galleries, including the Edmonds Art Festival, the largest juried art show in the Pacific Northwest; the Santa Barbara Arts Festival; the Brooks Adobe Center for the Arts; and Shows at the University of Washington Medical Center, the University of Oregon Art Museum, the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography, and the Santa Barbara Arts Council Gallery. My photos are also part of a number of private collections, including those at California's Midland School. My work has appeared in the Santa Barbara News Press, and more recently the South Whidbey Record, On Whidbey!, the Everett Herald and publications of the Island County Chamber of Commerce.
